My summer associate experience at McDermott exceeded my expectations.  While I enjoyed the entire summer program, the retreat in Washington, D.C., the mock trial, and the supportive work environment really stood out.  The retreat was a great opportunity to meet summer associates from across the firm and to really get to know your summer class.  I also enjoyed and learned a lot from the mock trial, where I interviewed witnesses, participated in a direct examination of the client, and strategized about case theory.  Finally, every summer associate is assigned a mentor who is a great resource for any questions and reviews work product.  Furthermore, all the attorneys I met throughout the summer were engaging, whether taking a coffee break, going to lunch, or discussing the elements of a research assignment.
