Summer Associate Testimonials
What I love most about working here is the size of my class, the people with whom I work, and the quality of the assignments. The summer class is small enough to get to know everyone, but large enough to allow for diversity and differences. Through these social events, the dinner receptions, and the training sessions, you bond as a class and develop life-lasting friendships. Your summer class forms a small community within the larger McDermott community. Most importantly, the class is small enough that you’re not just another summer. Some of the most senior people at McDermott take the time to get to know everyone in the summer class. And that brings me to the second point. The people here are amazing to work with. From senior partners to junior associates the unofficial “no jerk” policy pervades McDermott culture. I’ve found the people here to be friendly, easy to work with, and easy to talk to. No one ever said you have to be best friends with everyone at work, but it is important that you find yourself at a firm where you enjoy the company of your coworkers. I imagine that those delicious, extravagant, two-hour lunches can be quite burdensome if the company is awkward and the conversations are forced. So far, that has not been the case for me at McDermott. And last, I have really enjoyed the quality of my assignments here. The work is both interesting and challenging. It’s real work so you get a taste for life at McDermott. Where you spend your summer can be a big commitment and a hard decision. Don’t be afraid to ask the hard questions. McDermott attorneys are not afraid to answer them. |
