Professional Development/Mentoring
Because our trainees are given significant responsibility early on in their careers, we recognise the importance of helping them to fully integrate and also support them with appropriate training and mentoring.
In addition to the formal induction programme in London, all our new trainees attend the Firm’s annual week-long orientation programme for first year associates which takes place in the United States in early September. As well as offering practical training to help gain an understanding of the Firm’s various practice areas, it gives the trainees an invaluable opportunity to meet and build relationships with new associates in other offices. Trainees are also assigned mentors in the departments they join to facilitate integration.
As well as the Professional Skills Course, as a trainee, you will attend workshops on presentation and drafting skills. You will learn a great deal about the specific practice areas in the London office which will enable you to make informed decisions about your future seats, and ultimately where you will qualify.
Once you qualify, our ongoing legal training programme will help you keep up-to-date with developments in your practice area.
We also have a formal mentoring programme which is an integral part of an associate’s career development. Your mentor normally is a partner of your choice from another practice area.
