As part of McDermotts longstanding commitment to promoting a more diverse law firm, we are proud to offer our 1L Diversity JD/MBA Fellowship Program. The 1L Diversity Fellow will be included in all aspects of McDermotts 2023 Summer Associate Program in our Chicago office, including extensive training, networking, integration and social opportunities. Diversity Fellows will be paired with both a Partner and Associate mentor to provide guidance during the summer and throughout the school year.

In addition to a weekly salary of $4,134, our 1L JD/MBA Diversity Fellow will receive a $15,000 scholarship toward their law school education after the 2023 Summer Program. Diversity Fellows who successfully complete the 1L fellowship program are also eligible to earn an offer to return as a 2024 Summer Associate.

We welcome applications from students who are members of historically under-represented groups in the legal profession who are enrolled at ABA- accredited law schools with:

  • A commitment to promoting and advancing diversity within the firm as a product of background, experience, personal attributes or characteristics
  • A strong record of academic and professional achievement
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career at McDermott upon graduation
  • The intent to live and practice in the city or region in which the office is located
  • Enrolled in a joint JD/MBA program with an anticipated JD/MBA graduation date of Spring 2025 at the time of application
  • An interest in pursuing corporate and/or transactional law
