As part of McDermotts longstanding commitment to promoting a more diverse law firm and legal industry, we are proud to offer our 1L Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Scholars Program in partnership with Verily Life Sciences. The 1L LCLD Scholar will participate in all aspects of McDermotts 2023 Summer Associate Program in our Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, or Washington, D.C. office, including extensive training, networking, integration and social opportunities. In addition, the 1L LCLD Scholar will complete a 3-week secondment working directly with Verily in their San Francisco office*. Our LCLD Scholar will be paired with both a Partner and Associate mentor to provide guidance during the summer and throughout the school year. The scholar will also have the opportunity to attend the 2023 1L LCLD Scholars Summit.
In addition to a weekly salary of $4,134, our 1L LCLD Scholar will receive a $15,000 scholarship toward their law school education at the completion of the 2023 Summer Program. The LCLD Scholar is also eligible to earn an offer to return as a 2024 Summer Associate upon successful completion of the 2023 Summer Program.
*McDermott will cover round trip airfare to/from San Francisco for program dates with Verily. Scholar will be responsible for costs associated with housing and incidental expenses.
